A truss is essentially a triangulated system of straight interconnected structural elements. It is most commonly used in buildings where support to roofs, the floors and internal loading such as services and suspended ceilings are readily provided. The main reason for using trusses is because of its durability, lightweight, reduced deflection and supports considerable loads. However, the most preferred truss is the steel roof trusses. On the other hand, a timber frame construction is the method of building with heavy timbers rather than the dimensional lumber. It is the method of creating structures using heavy squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs.
